Story Time • April 14

Happy Tuesday morning! Since this morning is a bit cold and chilly, why not stay in your PJ’s for a Pajama Story Time from home!

Grab your stuffed animals, blankets and pillows, and enjoy a cozy story time with Ms. Megan as she reads about her favorite zoo animal: giraffes! Don’t forget to snap a photo of you and/or your child when you listen to a story time, or song, movement, or craft activity each week and post it online with our handle @SCPLibraryKY, along with the hashtag #SCPLfromhome.

Songs

Since giraffes are animals kids see at the zoo, listen to both of these songs that  include movement activities for each animal the kids see in the videos. Kids will be dancing and moving like the animals do at the zoo!

Fun Activity

Cincinnati Zoo Visit

Need a fun activity to do to help the kids feel like they have gone on an adventure since we are stuck in the house? Try going on a home safari at the Cincinnati Zoo! Everyday at 3 PM EDT, join the zoo for a live video of a featured animal. Or check out this link below for additional resources and previous safari adventures. Click here to visit the Cincinnati Zoo’s website.

Giraffe Cam

Do you love giraffes as much as Ms. Megan? Watch live giraffes at the Houston Zoo from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM EDT. You can even move the camera to different positions when it is your turn! How cool! Click here to watch the livestream!

Craft

Now that you have virtually visited the Cincinnati Zoo or watched the live giraffe cams, try making a zoo animal out of materials you have at home! Need inspiration? Click here to check it out!
