Introducing our Refreshed Website!

You may have noticed that our website is looking very different! It is our hope that you’ll enjoy using this website as a tool to help you find resources for your research project, explore local history, find a book, print from your laptop, and so much more.

Did you know SCPL created its first website in 1999? And the design stayed the same until this year! Here’s a screenshot of what it looked like (figure #1):

While we worked on designing our current site, we changed the old one around a little bit, so for the past few weeks you probably grew used to seeing this version (figure #2):

When we decided the website needed a refresh, we hired Brandon Crabtree of Crabtree Systems upon the stellar recommendation of Shelby County Tourism. We came to him with some design ideas, and he took those ideas and turned them into the beautiful site you see today.

As we planned the redesign, we carefully wrote content with you in mind to help answer your library questions, made the website mobile-friendly, and complied with the suggestions of WebAim and WC3 to make this website accessible for people with disabilities.

We are so excited to launch this new design! We hope you enjoy it as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it for you.

Thank you for stopping by and exploring! Make sure you subscribe to our blog and newsletter so you’ll be the first to know about the latest library news.

Whitney Wooters is the IT & Circulation Manager at the Shelby County Public Library. She’s been here since 2012, where she began in the children’s department working as a page. Meeting so many people and maintaining the website are her two favorite things about working at the library. Whitney is a graduate of Leadership Shelby (2018). When she’s not at work, she’s spending time with her husband and family, hoping that includes a fishing excursion or campfire.
