August’s Featured Database: Learning Express

With the start of the school year comes another aspect of education. It’s not anyone’s favorite part. It’s not the easiest thing to do. But it’s part of the process. Yep, we’re talking about testing. We all know that preparing for tests is key, but sometimes that can be just as stressful as the test itself. That’s where the library and Learning Express can help.

What is Learning Express?

Learning Express is a free digital resource provided by the library. This tool offers test prep for nearly every test you can imagine.

It’s for elementary kids through college students.

Your kids can prepare for tests beginning in elementary school and continue using Learning Express throughout middle and high school.

To get ready to tackle college, whether that’s to earn your bachelor or masters, there’s test prep for the ACT and SAT, as well as Graduate School Admissions exams.

As an enrolled college student, Learning Express will walk you through refining your math, reading, grammar, and science skills.

It’s for adult learners.

Learning Express also provides test prep for the adult learner. Prepare to take the GED exam, get better at math, improve your writing technique, and learn more computer skills. You can even prepare for the U.S. Citizenship test.

It’s for career-oriented.

Learning Express offers occupation exam prep for many careers. If it’s your dream to become a real estate agent, cosmetologist, postal worker, nurse, firefighter, teacher, social worker, soldier, or have something else in mind, then explore Learning Express first to prepare yourself. There’s even a career match tool you can use if you don’t know what you want to do yet.

1. Find it on our website.

Click on “Digital Resources.”

Then you can choose to browse by name or by category. If you choose category, you can find Learning Express under “Education” or “Education: K-12.”

2. Create an account.

Click “Sign In/Register.”

Next, click the “Register” button, then fill out the simple form to finish setting up your account.

Once you’ve created your account, you can view your “Center” which is where all the lessons you’re working on are organized.

3. Begin studying!

Visit the “Home” page to start different tutorials.

We hope you enjoy using this database! If you have any questions, please schedule an appointment with our Adult Services Librarian, Shana, by emailing her at reference@scplibrary.net or calling (502) 633-3803.
